Weekend round-up!

Many of our weekends were consumed by goings on with our families or other Easter related obligations... so while we were stuffing our faces, what happened in the rest of the world?

-In Los Angeles...
LA Weekly is playing on the hype over street art created by MOCA's Art in the Streets exhibits by commissioning a well known graffiti artist to (select one) tag/paint/beautify their building.  The recent insurgence of street art has some people up at arms, and others elated.  LA Weekly is taking its chances with this move, but it will no doubt increase notoriety and put them on the map in a whole new way.  Read more here!

-In celebrity real estate..
Taylor Swift drops $3,550,000 on a 3 bedroom house in Beverly Hills!  This is not even going to be her permanent residence, but rather somewhere to make camp when she is in Los Angeles so that she doesn't have to stay in hotels.  The Real Estalker covers this transaction and details on the house here.

-In technology..
Despite constant jabs at Twitter, people saying the service is on the outs, it is actually seeing a lot more action than people knew.  Statistics from twitter.com say that it is experiencing even less traffic than Myspace (My..what?), but the numbers at Twitter.com are not accurate because so many people "tweet" from a mobile device.  This article reports a surge in international traffic on Twitter in the past year, undoubtedly due to riots in places like Libya where protesters tweet their every political move.

And for something as important as it is totally random..
-In world politics...
China and the US are going to be holding a talk on China's human rights policies.  This comes amidst much condemnation from the US on questionable happenings with regards to government critics in China (ie. "forced disappearances.") Read more here.
