Malibu Colony:


The Malibu Colony, originally named the Malibu Movie Colony, was developed in the 1920's.    It started out as a hideaway for celebrities and movie personalities,  including even Clara Bow and Harold Lloyd in the early years.  At this time, the average price of a small cottage was $2,600--how the times have changed (the vacant lots now start at 1,000,000.)  


The homes in Malibu Colony have an interesting way of numbering the houses, they have a standard five digit address like 22564 but then will be called by a two digit number, such as "56."  In the gated Malibu Colony there are 74 beach homes, which tend to run on the smaller size in comparison to other areas in Malibu (such as Broad Beach, La Costa, and Carbon Beach-which will all be featured here, in due time!)
